Free Nature Walk at The Creeks

Join Dr. Sarah Bois, Director of Research and Education, for a guided tour of the beach and saltmarsh of the Creeks with a special focus on documenting the biodiversity of this special habitat. Sarah will go over the use of iNaturalist to help identify and record what we see.

This walk is held in collaboration with the Nantucket Land and Water Council and the Nantucket Land Bank and is part of the annual Nantucket BioBlitz event.

We’ll explore beach and saltmarsh habitats, and enjoy views of Nantucket Harbor as we document all the species we come across. We’ll see what’s blooming, budding, flying, and crawling around the sand and mudflats.

We’ll also cover the history of the area including the old Nantucket railroad and the land use changes of the marsh system.

Bring your questions – discussion is encouraged! It’s a great chance to learn more about the resiliency of the area and ask your Nantucket nature questions.

Rambles are free to attend and open to all!
