Forging Copper Money Clips with Beth Holmberg
Why a money clip? It’s a fun bit of useful “pocket jewelry.” It’s a great way to keep your Euros and Pesos organized when travelling. It can even be used as a napkin holder for a retro table-setting. And copper ages beautifully with use, developing a lovely warm patina, full of natural highlights.
In this class, you’ll get a taste of some basic metalsmithing skills while forging a handmade monogrammed money clip. Step-by-step demonstration and instruction will guide you through a variety of hand-tool skills- you’ll learn how to cut, file, stamp, texture, and shape copper sheet with a hammer. There will be plenty of opportunities for you to experiment and add your own twist to the design, making it uniquely yours. Expect a bit of material science sprinkled in with practical tips on body-friendly hammering and supportive coaching!
