Decorative Arts Greatest Hits Series: Sailors Valentine Ornament

The Decorative Arts Greatest Hits Series is a selection of classes held in the evening at the historic 1800 House to introduce new and seasoned students to some of our favorite decorative arts offerings.

Using the techniques of traditional sailors valentines, intricate shell artworks purchased as souvenirs by sailors aboard whaleships, make a shell composition inside a 3″ cherry box. The finished box has a glass dome and can be hung or stands upright on a shelf.
