Keeper For A Day

Have you ever wondered what it takes to care for reptiles, amphibians, fish, and other fascinating creatures? Join MMA Naturalists as an animal keeper for a day and experience it firsthand! Participants will help prepare diets, feed members of our living collection, clean and refresh enclosures, and learn how we keep our animal ambassadors healthy and thriving. Be ready to roll up your sleeves—animal care can be a messy (but exciting!) job.

Space is limited to one group of up to two participants per session. Participants must wear closed-toe shoes throughout the program. This program is designed for children ages 10–15 and is a drop-off program. It meets at the Maria Mitchell Natural Science Museum, 7 Milk St. Pre-registration is required, and registration closes 24 hours before the program start time. The program begins and ends promptly at the scheduled time (9:30 AM–12:00 PM). We recommend bringing a snack and water, as food and drink are not provided.

Cost: $100 per group (up to two participants)
