Lecture: Meet Mr. Sarg with NHA Curator of Exhibitions, Deborah Sorensen

Kick off the “Summer of Sarg” with an introduction to the illustrator, puppeteer, entrepreneur, and beloved Nantucket summer resident who inspired it all, Mr. Tony Sarg. NHA Curator of Exhibitions, Deborah Sorensen, will share an illustrated talk about the artist’s globe-hopping life and prolific career, as well as background on how the exhibition Tony Sarg: Genius at Play, organized by the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Mass., was adapted and expanded for its presentation at the Whaling Museum and other NHA properties.

Deborah Sorensen is the Robyn & John Davis Curator of Exhibitions at the NHA, where she develops and manages original and traveling exhibitions, as well as short- and long-range exhibition planning across the NHA’s historic properties. Before joining the NHA, she spent 17 years at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C., crafting exhibitions and film programs on architecture and design topics. More recently she served as Senior Content Developer for the planned Milken Center for Advancing the American Dream. She received her M.A. in Museum Studies from the George Washington University.
