The Nantucket Book Festival welcomes readers from near and far to the Sanctuary of the Unitarian Universalist Meeting House for our Opening Celebration, which extols the transformative power of words to inspire, illuminate, educate, and connect us to each other through our shared humanity. This is our time to formally recognize our island’s youth showing inspiration and promise as writers by awarding the Young Writer Award, a perennial cornerstone of the Festival. Our three presenting authors will then offer three different takes or visions of what Freedom means to them as wielders of the written word.
