Wines & Rinds – A Wine and Cheese Tasting

This week we’re off to the Basque region of  Europe & spanning both sides of the Pyrenees.  Catalunya’s Azimut’s Brisat Orange is our wine for the week – refreshing, bright, and almost prickly on the palate.  This orange is another great entry into the genre, skin contact has given this wine some texture and depth but without much of the dried fruitcake notes you’d often find.  Super fragrant on the nose with notes of apricot, orange blossom, and honey.  Stone fruits and citrus are present on the palate and leave us with a positively thirst quenching experience.

Petit Basque is a sheep’s milk cheese from right across the mountains in France.  Sweet cream and salty on the palate and so yummy.  Subtle, but present and generally crowd pleasing.  Earthy, nutty, creamy and all around a winner.  These two are the perfect pair to kick off early summer porch sipping.
