More and more people on Nantucket are testing positive for Alpha-Gal Syndrome (AGS), an allergy associated with the bite of the lone-star tick. As awareness and testing increase, it seems likely that more members of our community will find themselves facing this unfamiliar and sometimes confusing condition.
This group is being formed as a place for people affected by Alpha-Gal to come together, share our stories and experiences, learn from one another, and explore ways we can support each other.
We are not medical experts, and the group is not intended to replace advice from healthcare professionals. Instead, we hope to create a supportive local community where we can share what we've learned from living with Alpha-Gal, talk about the challenges we encounter, and help raise awareness for those who may have Alpha-Gal but have not yet been diagnosed.
Most of all, this is a place to connect. None of us should have to figure out Alpha-Gal alone.
Free and open to the community.
