Annual Tree of Remembrance @ Jared Coffin House Gazebo Garden
Nov 21 2020 – Jan 1 2021 all-day
Annual Tree of Remembrance @ Jared Coffin House Gazebo Garden

We will not be having our traditional service or reception this year, BUT we still want everyone to place ornaments on the tree throughout the holidays, beginning Nov. 22nd. Write a loved one’s name on a scallop shell ornament and hang it on PASCON’s special Tree of Remembrance in the JC House Gazebo Garden. We hope this provides a peaceful and special way to remember and honor loved ones who have died. *Ornaments and markers will be in individual bags beneath the tree. Please place used markers in the designated receptacle and observe social distancing when hanging your ornament. Ornaments you wish to keep must be retrieved by January 1st. After that, scallop shell ornaments will be returned to the sea and other ornaments will be discarded.

This year, Bartlett’s Farm would be planning to host the eleventh annual Ladies Night, but the current Covid 19 restrictions have led us to cancel the event as it was. Instead, Bartlett’s is hosting Ladies Month. During November, Bartlett’s will host local vendors right on the Market floor, one at a time. With every purchase from a Ladies Night vendor at Bartletts, shoppers will be entered to win a $250 gift card from Bartlett’s.
The Ladies Night beneficiary this year is the Nantucket Food Pantry.

Kennedy is one of the nation’s foremost experts on commercial district revitalization, downtown economics, and independent business development. She co-founded the Community Land Use and Economics (CLUE) Group, a consulting firm that she co-founded in 2004. Her work focuses particular attention on cultivating locally owned businesses, creating dynamic retail development strategies, creating effective business and property development incentives, finding new uses for key historic buildings, and strengthening the organizational infrastructure needed to create vibrant town centers.
This conversation will be followed by a Q & A.

Nantucket Conservation Foundation Guided Walk around Squam Farm

Nantucket Conservation Foundation Guided Walk around Squam Farm

Explore the open fields, hidden forests and sphagnum bogs of this spectacular property adjacent to Squam Swamp. Located off Quidnet Road, this former farmland was used by the Foundation for a ten-year study of the ecological effects of sheep grazing on the island’s landscape.  Due to Covid-19 group size restrictions, space is limited and pre-registration is required: Nantucketconservation.org

Foundation is again offering complimentary guided winter walks on some of your favorite properties. All walks are led by the Foundation’s Middle Moors Ranger Allen Reinhard, and Neil Foley, Interpretive Education Coordinator & Ecologist. Allen and Neil’s winter walks offer a different perspective to those you may have been on in during the summer months, including more detailed insights into the geology and landscape, flora, and fauna of the individual property. The program is designed to bring the community into contact with the places and rare habitats that make our island so special.

Please note that our Winter Walks program is free and open to all members of the community. If you would like to make a contribution to NCF and our mission to permanently conserve and protect the island’s rare resources and special habitats, please call 508-228-2884.
